Is it better to get a car from used car alot or from car agency where they got used cars too?

Donny Bankson: The best way is buying a certified pre-owned car from a major dealer. You will pay slightly more, but the warranty is often as good or better than on a new car, and most dealers will only certify cars that are in very good shape. Good luck.

Burt Stoecklin: Not everyone can afford a certified pre-owned car but if you can I would recommend that route. With a certified used car there is usually a warranty or an offer of a cheap extended warranty because the dealership is backing the quality of the car, plus most certified cars are only a couple years old. If you can't afford a newer, certified car I would still recommend going to a used car lot at a major dealership. You will be more likely to maximize your money because big dealerships buy cars basically in bulk at auctions so they can offer you a newer car for the same price as an older one at a "mom & pops" dealership. A lot of the m & p dealerships buy cars from flood! auctions, salvage companies etc. so you never know about the quality you're getting. A major dealership will most likely be willing to show you a Carfax or similar history on the car as well. I would only recommend going to a m & p dealership if you know the place is reputable, don't take any chances!...Show more
