Serita Hefferon: the transit system is doable but you need to sort knowwhere you are going atleast you can get a day pass good on all metro lines for $5.00(Students can aslo get monthy passes (check with your school)
Alexis Reyer: LA doesn't have the same type of public transportation as Boston or Chicago. They mostly have buses with some light rail and subway.You might be better off getting to know someone with a car...even a bike or moped is good because the weather is usually nice.
Gertrude Darke: There is plenty of public transportation...the only problem is mobilemark is the only one who can figure out how it works....LOL...The problem is the system is very big with overlapping systems that take great study to figure out...The KISS system was totally forgotten when it was pieced together...even people who live here have a hard time with it...
Delmy Varano: Public Transit here is AWFUL! And I mean terrible. So get a cheap car or make some friends! that drive or -better yet- live in the SF Valley & you'll be in good shape!
Bud Espenshade: Frankly, I would learn to drive and GET a car. Public transit in LA is not like it is in Boston. For one, the city of LA is over 400 square miles, and the LA metro area is over 4000. We have bus lines here, but they aren't very efficient. Rail doesn't serve that part of the valley.Your best strategy is to GET a car.
Antonia Mogg: CSUN is located in the San Fernando valley. I grew up in the Valley and can tell you that you will be really disappointed if you rely on public transportation. Did I mention buses run maybe once an hour. The transportation system here is really for folks who are down and out, unlike the East Coast. You definitely need a car! Brock Hladik: Public Transportation in Los Angeles is horrible. Very horrible! Meeting people who drive in LA is hard also. People will find it strange that you don't have a car. People here are selfish and don't want to go out of their way to give you rides. LA is suburban. Doing basic errands like grocery shopping is going to be a challenge. Many of the buss es run only every 30 minutes or once an hour. In Boston distances are not very far. While in LA you could spend an hour each way to go out for the evening.
