Bob Pucella: Most dog foods are sprayed with flavor because the dog will not eat filler based foods alone. Holistic foods are not sprayed with flavor because the flavor is already in it. People who say their dog loves the food they get them so it must be good are wrong. Their dog likes it because it tastes good only. It doesn't mean it is healthy for the dog.

Alvaro Oare: Most of the time, for cheaper brands, they get sprayed with a coating of animal fat which makes them smell really good to the dog. The dog food itself doesn't taste all that great.Higher end dog foods do taste better and are better for your dog. But really, if your dog doesn't like it they won't eat it unless they're hungery! . You can tell if the dog doesn't like it, they'll sniff at it and walk away and will only eat it after all other options for treats and snacks are worn out. Mickey Isle: Dogs like food. Any kind of food. Some foods are not nutritious, yet a dog will still eat it. It is important that you as an owner educate yourself about the good and bad foods.

Cassondra Vanholland: If all we ate were saltine crackers our whole lives, we would gladly eat our cracker dinner at meal time. And I think we'd be especially happy if we were hungry when we ate.I believe dogs can taste the difference between foods and have discriminating taste (one of my dogs likes carrots, the other not so much... one like yogurt, the other sticks up his nose to it... and so on).
