Heidi Creselious: yes they mention their company. they usually ask questions like: what kind of person are you, weaknesses and strengths, reason why you're no longer with the company, would they want you back, etc

Penelope Armond: Well usually they have to identify themselves. I don't think any sensible person would start releasing information unless they knew who they were speaking to. They ask questions such as what is your title, dates of employment, reason for leaving, would they hire you back, do you work well with others. If you left a company on bad terms I would suggest you leave them off your resume or not use them as a reference. A bad reference screams don't hire this person.
